Graphite Freemium
Stacked-pull-request workflow plus an AI reviewer that comments on diffs
Graphite does two things: it turns a big branch into a chain of small stacked pull requests, and it runs an AI reviewer over your diff. The CLI is free for individuals; team plans start at $20 per user per month with an enterprise tier above that.
What is a stacked pull request?
Instead of one 800-line diff, you split work into dependent PRs โ each one a reviewable slice that targets the previous branch. Reviewers approve the pieces, and merging cascades down the stack. Google and Meta have used this internally for years; Graphite brings it to normal GitHub repos.
Their AI reviewer is called Diamond. You add it as a GitHub app, and it posts inline comments on your diff with a summary at the top. It runs on your own CI or theirs.
Product Features
- gt CLI for creating, restacking and submitting stacks from the terminal.
- Stacked PRs that stay in sync when a lower PR changes, with automatic rebasing.
- Diamond AI review that comments on logic bugs, missing tests and edge cases.
- Review inbox that ranks your pending reviews by urgency.
- Merge queue to land stacks without breaking main.
- GitHub and GitLab support, with VS Code and JetBrains integrations.
Product Highlights
Restacking is where the value lands. Anyone who has rebased five dependent branches by hand knows the pain. Graphite keeps the chain coherent when you edit a middle commit, which is the part manual workflows get wrong constantly.
Diamond is decent but not magic. It catches obvious null checks and forgotten awaits; it misses architectural problems and business-logic errors. Treat it as a first-pass reviewer, not a gate. On large diffs it can also produce a lot of noise, and teams sometimes tune it down to only flag high-severity issues.
The other catch: stacked PRs are a workflow change. If your team merges straight to main, adoption stalls because the tool does not fit the habit. It rewards disciplined, small-commit teams and frustrates everyone else.
Use Cases
- Feature work split into reviewable 200-line PRs.
- Large refactors landed incrementally on a green main.
- Teams that want AI comments without leaving GitHub.
- Reviewing a dependency bump chain across a monorepo.
- Onboarding new engineers with a ranked review inbox.

- Its AI reviewer, Diamond, posts inline comments on diffs.
- CLI is free for individuals; team plans start at $20 per user per month.
- Restacking automation is the killer feature for small-commit teams.
