How to Storyboard a Short Film With Sora 3 Pro
Sora 3 Pro can generate a scene-by-scene animatic before you shoot. This workflow covers shot lists, character consistency and stitching clips into a sequence.
OpenAI's video model with longer clips, tighter physics and a storyboard workflow
Sora 3 Pro is OpenAI’s video generator inside the Sora app and API. Pro tiers produce 1080p clips around 20-25 seconds, add a storyboard timeline for shot-by-shot control, and support remixing existing generations.
Sora 3 Pro is the paid, higher-fidelity tier of OpenAI’s Sora video line. Where the free and Plus tiers cap resolution and length, Pro lifts both and unlocks the storyboard interface — a timeline where you place prompts per beat instead of writing one long description.
Physics and prompt adherence improved most in this release. Objects keep their shape through a pan, and a described camera move usually happens as asked, which were the two loudest complaints about earlier versions.
It depends on whether you need editing control. If all you make are single 10-second clips, the Pro tier is overpriced and free tiers or rivals like Veo will do. If you are assembling a story, the storyboard timeline saves hours and justifies the subscription. Two caveats: generation still queues during peak hours, and text on screen — logos, signage, captions — remains unreliable.
