How to Clone Your Voice in ElevenLabs v3 for Multi-Language Audio
A cloned voice in ElevenLabs v3 can read your script in a dozen languages. Here is what makes a clone sound like you, and the…
Expressive text-to-speech that finally handles emotion tags and dialogue
ElevenLabs v3 is the company’s expressive text-to-speech model. Unlike older TTS that reads every sentence the same way, v3 responds to inline tags such as [whispers], [laughs] or [excited], which makes audiobooks and AI dialogue sound like performance rather than dictation.
ElevenLabs is a New York voice-AI company founded in 2022, best known for realistic cloned voices. Version 3 (alpha) added “audio tags” and multi-speaker stability. It is aimed at audiobook producers, game studios and podcasters. Free tier gives limited monthly characters; Creator is $22/month for more volume and commercial rights.
The tags are the story. They let a writer steer emotion without re-recording, which is exactly the control that made older TTS unusable for fiction. Dialogue between two cloned voices also holds up better than before — fewer voice flips mid-scene.
It is not free of quirks. Tag reliability varies by voice, some tags get ignored, and v3 can still drift in very long single-pass renders. You will do a fair bit of re-generating to land a paragraph.
Great for indie audiobook producers, game dialogue, and podcast intros where delivery carries meaning. Not the tool for hyper-controlled enterprise IVR prompts that need identical reads every time.
