How to Create and Share Video Meeting Highlights Using Fathom AI for Better Team Alignment
Not everyone can attend every meeting, and reading through a full transcript is time-consuming. Fathom AI‘s clip feature lets you create and share short video highlights from any meeting — giving stakeholders the key moments without the time commitment. This tutorial shows you how to create impactful meeting clips that keep your team aligned and informed.
Step 1: Identify Key Moments During the Meeting
While Fathom records your meeting automatically, you can also highlight important moments in real time. Click the “Highlight” button in the Fathom overlay during the call whenever a key decision, important announcement, or critical discussion point occurs. This creates a bookmark that makes it easy to find later. You can also add a quick text note to each highlight for context.
Step 2: Review the Post-Meeting Summary
After the meeting, open the Fathom dashboard and review the AI-generated summary. The summary organizes the meeting into topics with timestamps. Identify the 2-3 most important topics that teammates who missed the meeting need to see. These are your clip candidates. Look for moments where decisions were made, action items were assigned, or key insights were shared.
Step 3: Create a Video Clip
Click on a topic in the summary to jump to that section of the transcript. Select the text range you want to clip — Fathom will highlight the corresponding video segment. Click “Create Clip” and Fathom generates a short video with the selected portion, complete with the speaker’s video and a text overlay. The clip is typically 30 seconds to 3 minutes long.
Step 4: Add Context with a Brief Description
Before sharing, add a brief description to the clip: “Product team decided to prioritize the mobile app redesign in Q3. Key considerations: user feedback data, competitive landscape, and engineering capacity.” This context helps viewers understand why the clip matters without watching the full meeting. You can also add tags for easy categorization.
Step 5: Share via Link or Slack Integration
Fathom generates a shareable link for each clip. Copy the link and share it in Slack, email, or your project management tool. For teams using Slack, Fathom’s integration lets you post clips directly to a channel with one click. Viewers can watch the clip in their browser without needing a Fathom account. This is far more engaging than a text summary and more efficient than a full meeting recording.
Step 6: Build a Team Knowledge Library
Over time, your team’s Fathom clips become a searchable knowledge base. Set up a shared channel or document where important clips are collected. When new team members join, they can catch up on key decisions and context by watching relevant clips rather than reading through months of meeting notes. This is especially valuable for onboarding and cross-functional alignment.
