Step 1: Create your Scholarcy account

Sign up at Scholarcy and complete the quick setup where you can choose your fields of interest. Scholarcy uses these to tailor summaries to your discipline. You can also connect integrations if you plan to export into a reference manager.

Step 2: Upload a paper

Upload the PDF of the paper you need to review, or provide a URL to an openly accessible article. Scholarcy reads the document and identifies its structure, from the abstract and methods to the results and conclusions.

Step 3: Generate a flashcard-style summary

Scholarcy then produces a summary card that distills the paper into its essential elements: the research aim, key findings, methods used, and the main conclusions. This snapshot lets you quickly judge whether the paper is relevant enough to read in full.

Step 4: Review extracted references and claims

Scroll through the extracted details, which include citations, authors, and notable claims, each linked back to the original source. This is especially useful when you are evaluating a paper critically or need to chase down the studies a paper builds upon.

Step 5: Save papers to your research library

Save summarized papers into your personal Scholarcy library. Over time this becomes a searchable collection of everything you have reviewed. When you need to recall a finding or locate a source, search the library instead of hunting through folders of PDFs.

Step 6: Export for study or reference management

Export your summaries as flashcards for study tools, or push references into Zotero or another reference manager so your bibliography stays clean. For a systematic review or literature overview, combining many Scholarcy summaries gives you a rapid map of a field.
