Step 1: Record Your Video

Record your video in any location — the background removal works on arbitrary environments, not just green screen setups. However, best results come from recordings where: the subject is clearly separated from the background (no overlapping objects), lighting illuminates the subject distinctly from the background, and the subject doesn’t move extremely fast.

Step 2: Upload and Apply Background Removal

Upload your video to VEED.io. In the left toolbar, select “Effects” > “Remove Background.” VEED.io’s AI analyzes each frame, detects the subject silhouette, and separates foreground from background. Processing takes 1-3 minutes depending on video length and resolution.

Step 3: Preview the Result

Play through the video with the background removed. The subject appears on a transparent (green) background. Check for: edge artifacts (rough silhouettes around hair or clothing), false removals (parts of the subject incorrectly removed), and temporal consistency (the subject boundary shouldn’t flicker between frames).

Step 4: Choose a Replacement Background

Click “Add Background” and select from VEED.io’s stock background library — professional studios, office environments, nature scenes, abstract patterns, and gradient backgrounds. Alternatively, upload your own branded background image (company office, branded wall, product display). The background scales to match your video dimensions.

Step 5: Adjust Subject Position and Scale

With the background removed, you can reposition and resize the subject independently. Drag the subject layer to center them in the frame. Scale up or down to create the ideal proportion between subject and background. This freedom — impossible with original footage — lets you compose the visual layout exactly as you want it.

Step 6: Add Branding Elements

Layer your logo, lower-third name titles, and branded graphics over the composite video. Since the background is now controlled and consistent, these overlays integrate cleanly without fighting against unpredictable real-world backgrounds. Use VEED.io’s text and image tools to create branded elements that match your visual identity.

Step 7: Export the Final Video

Export with background replacement baked in. VEED.io renders the composite at your chosen resolution. For social media, 1080p vertical (9:16) or square (1:1) formats. For presentations and YouTube, 1080p horizontal (16:9). The AI-processed background removal holds up well across all common viewing sizes and platforms.

Step 1: Upload Your Video

Go to veed.io and click “New Project.” Upload your video file — VEED.io accepts MP4, MOV, AVI, and most common formats up to 2GB. The video appears on the editing timeline immediately.

Step 2: Generate Auto-Subtitles

Click the “Subtitles” tab in the left toolbar and select “Auto Subtitles.” Choose the language of your video’s spoken content. VEED.io’s AI transcribes the audio, assigns timestamps to each phrase, and places subtitle blocks on the timeline aligned with the corresponding audio segments. Processing takes approximately 30 seconds per minute of video.

Step 3: Review and Edit Subtitles

Play through the video with subtitles visible. Click any subtitle block on the timeline to edit its text — correct misrecognized words, adjust phrasing for readability, or split long blocks into shorter ones. VEED.io highlights low-confidence transcriptions in yellow, drawing your attention to segments most likely needing correction.

Step 4: Adjust Timing and Position

Drag subtitle blocks on the timeline to fine-tune start and end times. In the subtitle editor panel, adjust vertical position (top, center, bottom of frame), font size, and background opacity. Professional subtitles typically use bottom-center position with a semi-transparent background strip for readability over varied video content.

Step 5: Style Your Subtitles

Choose font family, color, and animation style from VEED.io’s subtitle templates. For YouTube content, a clean white font with a subtle shadow or background bar works best. For social media clips, consider bold colors that match your brand identity. Consistent subtitle styling becomes part of your visual brand.

Step 6: Export Subtitles

Download subtitles as an SRT file for upload to YouTube, Vimeo, or other platforms that accept separate subtitle files. Alternatively, burn subtitles directly into the video using the “Burn In” option — this embeds subtitles as permanent video pixels, making them visible on any player without subtitle file support.

Step 7: Translate Subtitles for Multilingual Content

From the Subtitles tab, select “Translate” and choose target languages.
