How to Link Live Data to Lucid Diagrams
A diagram with imported data becomes a dashboard. Here is how to set up data linking without turning your architecture map into an unreadable table.
Diagramming suite where AI drafts the flowchart and links live to your data
Lucid is the company behind Lucidchart (diagramming) and Lucidspark (whiteboarding). Its AI features draft flowcharts from a text prompt or a pasted document, and data-linked shapes refresh from a Google Sheet or Salesforce. The free tier allows three editable documents.
Two products under one account. Lucidchart is for precise diagrams — architecture, org charts, process flows — with proper connectors and alignment that a whiteboard can’t match. Lucidspark is the loose brainstorming board for when you don’t yet know the shape of the thing.
Lucid was previously called Lucid Software; the rebrand to Lucid happened as the suite expanded.
Free gives three editable documents with core shapes and basic AI credits. Individual plans run around $9–$10 per user monthly billed yearly, Team plans sit near $9–$15 depending on tier, and Enterprise requires a quote. AI features and data linking are gated to higher tiers, which is the usual complaint.
Skip it if you only need an occasional flowchart — Excalidraw or draw.io covers that for free. The three-document cap on the free tier is low enough that anyone with real work hits it in a week. Also, exporting large data-linked diagrams to PowerPoint tends to break the layout, so plan to share web links instead.
